Alienating the World: Canada

I watch English language news programs and read articles from all over the globe. I have for years. It's interesting to get different perspectives and learn diverse viewpoints. You can learn much if you filter out the propaganda. Many interesting things are not covered in your local market. Americans who only watch U.S. outlets might think that the only things that matter are Donald Trump and January 6th. Canadians who only expose themselves to government funded media live in a delusional world where climate change is an imminent existential threat and Canada’s other top priority is to write checks to Native community activists in the billions of dollars as they dig holes all over Canada in a fruitless attempt to find the mass graves of murdered children. Canada might be the first nation in history to apologize for atrocities that have been debunked.

Nazigate, as it has been labeled, is a big news story around the world. It is a top news item in the U.S., U.K., India, Russia, Germany, and Australia. I am sure this travesty is getting air time in many non-English speaking nations. The tone oscillates between contempt (Canadians are foolish idiots) to absolute disgust. (Canadians are an evil people that has deceived the world long enough); the national equivalent of a charming psychopath who is finally exposed as a serial sex offender. Canada’s reputation has been irrevocably destroyed and that is a good thing because truth is a sacred virtue. The myth of Canadian “niceness" has been killed and buried. A famous martial artist and self help guru once said: “Your reputation is what others think you are: your character is what you truly are. Reputations can be manipulated; character can only be developed and maintained.” Canada’s reputation has finally caught up with its character. The Canadian self-delusion of moral superiority is ending.

A nation that after the war was truly wonderful and on the verge of greatness has blown its historic opportunity. The Canada that stormed the beaches of Normandy and fought out of all proportion to its size to help liberate Europe has been dead and gone for decades. The Canada we have today is not even a legitimate nation-state. That is because their is no nation called Canada; just an administrative region of Klaus Schwab’s version of a global Utopia. Trudeau did brag that Canada was the world’s first post-nation-state. There is no Canadian nation anymore thanks to his government. He has succeeded in his dream. We now have a country where over 60% of citizens vote for authoritarian cultural Marxists who promise handouts even after catastrophic diplomatic blunders and an imploding economy. Canadians have sacrificed their freedom for promises of unearned and undeserved prosperity. As any liberty loving person predicted, Canada is far less free than ever and far more poor than anyone alive remembers with an ironic exception being Ukrainian Nazi war criminal Yaroslav Hunka who is 98 years old.

In a very short space of time, the world has learned two troubling and related things about Canada. One is that the Great White North has been a safe haven for Khalistani terrorist groups who openly call for the expulsion of Hindus from Canada and plot the violent destruction of the world’s largest democracy. Two, Canada has been a haven for Ukrainian Nazi war criminals since the end of World War II in the same way Argentina provided a refuge for German Nazi war criminals. The difference being Argentinian Nazis did not openly celebrate the Waffen S.S.. This latter fact was well known to the Canadian Jewish community and a few other Canadians who knew history. It was the subject of a 60 Minutes segment in the late 1990’s. Why do Canadian governments tolerate Khalistani terrorists and Waffen S.S. butchers in their midst’s? It was not because they genuinely supported and admired these groups. It was simply to get votes; pure and simple. The Sikh community in Canada is politically powerful relative to it’s size. To be brutally harsh, the Ukrainian community outnumbers the Jewish community four to one.

Growing up in Canada, I always knew this. Most Ukrainian-Canadians are not Nazis or Nazi sympathizers, but a sizeable minority are, and frankly, one true Nazi is enough. The justification I always hear from the children and grandchildren of Ukrainian Nazis and their supporters is that the Russian Communists were somehow worse than Hitler because more people died under communist regimes than in the Holocaust. They also point out that the Holodomor, the mass starvation of Ukrainians, pre-dated the Holocaust and some of the top officials of the Communist Party were Jews. In effect, the implicit argument is that the Jews kind of started it. They also expressed their resentment that the Jews were damaging the reputation of Ukrainians by constantly harping on the Holocaust and not acknowledging, what they imagined in their minds, were the Jews culpability in the Holodomor. They did not seem to realize that the Holocaust was not the first time Ukrainians went on a rampage against their Jewish neighbors. Ukraine honors the murderers of Jews as national heroes to this day. The Ukrainian city of Khmelnitsky is named for Bohdan Khmelnitsky; who from 1648 to 1649 led a revolt against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth that murdered thousands of innocent Jews and Poles.

An argument that some on the far right continue to use is that Jews are the leaders of global communism. In their minds, they have re-imagined Ukrainian Waffen S.S. troops as heroic fighters against Russian communism. In truth, the Soviets treated the Ukrainians brutally. However, Eastern Europe is a cruel place and different groups have butchered each other for centuries.

Again, I must point out that not even a majority of Ukrainian-Canadians support Nazism. In fact, some Ukrainians fought on the Allied side. Many pro-Nazi Ukrainians came from western Ukraine and anti-Nazi Ukrainians tended to come from the Eastern part of the nation. Russophiles and Russophobes have a regional component to this day.

The Canadian government did let in thousands of war criminals after World War II. The ruling Liberal Party government during the Holocaust restricted Jewish refugees trying to escape to Canada. This action ultimately led to the horrific deaths of innocent men, women and children. This was in a country of almost 10 million square kilometers (3.8 million square miles) with a population of only 12 million people. Even in the early post-war years, it was easier for a Waffen S.S. veteran to get into Canada than a Jew that survived the death camps, like my mother.

These facts are important when examining the Nazigate fiasco where the entire Parliament of Canada gave two standing ovations to a war criminal who should have been hanged the minute he stepped foot in Canada. The Trudeau government made the Speaker of the House the fall guy in a move that had to be the biggest display of cowardice in Canadian Parliamentary history.

This brings us to Chrystia Freeland, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance who is the second most powerful politician in the country and was the odds on favorite to be the successor to the current Prime Minister. Only an fool would think Freeland did not know who Hunka was and of Canada’s shameful history. I believe she merely felt Ukrainian Nazi’s, of which her grandfather was one, as well as other family members, according to some outlets, had had their reputations rehabilitated in the fight against Russia and communism. This was a gross miscalculation.

People should be given the benefit of the doubt, once or even twice but never three times. First, as we stated, Freeland’s grandfather supported the Nazi’s. He was also reported to have directly benefited from the murder of a Jew and the theft of the victims property. Her grandfather's Nazi past is a known fact that Freeland herself eventually was forced to admit. Second, at a pro-Ukraine rally, she proudly displayed a banner displaying the colors of Ukrainian nationalists who supported the notorious Stepan Bandera who remains a hero in his homeland to this day. The picture is below. Freeland had to know what the banner meant. She thought non-Ukrainians would not figure it out. Third, she was literally the first person in the House to stand and applaud. She looked so proud and she seemed close to shedding tears of joy. Three strikes against Frau Freeland. The real question is how could someone as intelligent as Freeland have been so stupid and destroy her career and reputation? Arrogance and narcissism make us fools. I also get the sense that Freeland in a high functioning autistic person and does not comprehend how she comes across. Trudeau’s excuse? Narcissism, laziness, Machiavellianism and the fact that he just isn’t very smart.

Canada's attempt to be the poster boy of wokeism had failed catastrophically. By trying to please almost everyone, Canada has pleased almost no one. Scapegoating those who pushed back against authoritarianism has not worked. The accusations of the government that the Freedom Convoy protestors were Nazis are no longer taken seriously by any serious person in Canada. Nations with very different cultures, political and economic systems and worldviews hold the nation in contempt. This distain is well deserved. The political leaders who brought us here were overwhelmingly supported by the public. Even now, almost 60% of Canadians support leftist politicians and even the Conservatives are to the left of any form of libertarianism.

Canada is broken in so many ways. Hundreds of thousands of Canadians have experienced homelessness over the past few years. People are going hungry. The standard of living of most Canadians has plummeted. If America lifted restrictions on Canadians entering the U.S., millions would emigrate. Chrystia Freeland is the Minister of Finance. She may be the biggest political failure in Canadian history. There is overwhelming circumstantial evidence that she has a connection to Nazis. Canada has given Ukraine $9 billion and all we have to show for it is death and destruction. I doubt if we would have contributed so much without Freeland pushing Trudeau. It's time for Frau Freeland to retire from Canadian politics. I'm sure her mentors George Soros and Klaus Schwab can find her a job.

Finally, below is a monument that honors Hunka's Waffen S.S. unit. It is not in Kyiv but in Oakville, Ontario. The same nation that removed statues of Winston Churchill and Canada's first Prime Minister John A. MacDonald from public view tolerates monuments to mass murderers and freezes the bank accounts and arrests legitimate protestors. If America was serious about fighting for democracy, the U.S. Army would be in Ottawa now.
