A Lost Generation: Hamas & the Woke Mind Virus

The brutal attack that took place against Israelis and those non-Israelis who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time by the terrorists of Hamas who govern Gaza shocked and upset civilized people everywhere. As more details emerged, we learned that the depravity we witnessed on that terrible day was almost beyond our imagination and comprehension. Many of us would not have believed the shocking and sadistic actions of Palestinians against their Israeli neighbors who just the week before had been allowed to work in Israel. The opportunity to work in Israel was gift given the economic problems of Gaza. This is consistent with much of the Muslim Middle East except for the oil sheikdoms. The average G.D.P. per capita of the non-oil rich Arab nations is half the world average and getting worse and a fraction of that of developed nations.
In an act of unbelievable barbarity and sadism, those who raped, tortured, mutilated and murdered babies, children, women, men and the elderly filmed their actions. They could be seen in a state of ecstasy. Surely, everyone, especially in the West, would be horrified, disgusted and would demand justice. Surely every person would have nothing but sympathy for the victims, their families, the nation of Israel and Jews around the world who share deep familial, psychological and even spiritual bonds with the Jewish nation.
The assumption of disgust would generally be correct except for two groups. One, unsurprisingly were many, but not all (the ex-pat Iranian community being a notable exception) of Muslims in the West. No surprise as antisemitism is brainwashed into that population at a young age. Survey after survey indicate rabid Jew hatred in Muslim nations. Interestingly, this is not denied by many Muslims but is by their far-left apologists. Even Palestinian children’s TV shows are not immune from antisemitism as Farfour, the lovable mouse on the Palestinian program Tomorrow’s Pioneers espouses Jew hatred. In my city of Toronto, we witnessed young Muslims celebrating the carnage even before Israel began to strike Gaza significantly.
The other group supporting and justifying the attacks were young people. A survey of Americans soon after the atrocities showed that 48% of people aged 18 to 25 supported Hamas while 52% supported Israel. Imagine if half of young Americans supported Aiden Hale, the Nashville mass shooter who attacked a Christian school killing three nine-year old children and three adults on the justification that Christians deserved it based on their perceived treatment of the LGBT community.
After October 7th, we have witnessed students on college campuses verbally and physically abusing Jewish students with the approval and the behest of their professors. The same professors who have turned their student’s intellects into mush while drawing large salaries and burdening them with large debts. Protestors, many of whom are young, and not all Muslim, have marched in the streets chanting maniacally from the mass killing of Jews. Their apologists claim that they are merely pro-Palestinian and want a ceasefire, but this is clearly deception to justify their evil goal and convince the gullible. Jewish schools in Montreal have been shot at. A synagogue was firebombed but fortunately was not significantly damaged. Pro-terrorist thugs harass diners at Israeli cafes in Toronto in scenes reminiscent of Germany in the 1930’s. Posters of kidnapped Israeli infants are torn down by wild eyed Zoomers and Millennials.
It is troubling enough to see our young people succumb to the neo-Marxist mind virus but the fact that so many support bestial sadism should be extremely alarming. We have a big problem, and in this case, antisemitism is only a symptom. The Nazis and Stalin successfully brainwashed an entire generation to willingly participate in and feel pride in the barbarous crimes of the Holocaust and Holodomor. Young Chinese people helped shipped off their own teachers, and in some cases, family members to be tortured and murdered seeking the love and approval of Chairman Mao. The West now has millions of brainwashed young people ready to perform the next historical atrocity. We had better address this situation. The consequences of our indifference will be catastrophic.
Younger people are poorer, sicker, and more mentally ill than their parents and grandparents' generation. Many of them are addicted to cannabis and even more dangerous substances as they attempt to deal with their bleak and purposeless lives. A far smaller percentage of them will own a single-family home than previous generations. They will live most of their lives in small, depressing and poorly constructed multifamily units. We used to call them slums. A large percentage of them will never marry or have children. Babies will continue to be born to single mothers from the lowest economic and educational strata of society.
Like the lost generation Russians before the Revolution, of Germans after World War I, and the post World War II generation of Chinese, the young are susceptible to totalitarian and genocidal ideas and malevolent leaders. This is especially true for those young men already prone to thuggery and violence. In that regard, progressivism, wokeism, cultural Marxist or whatever the current brand name of totalitarian socialism is called, and radical Islam are consistent. Nazism, fascism, and Japanese militarism were all slightly different.
Warren Buffett famously pointed out that if you want to get out of a hole, the first thing you do is stop digging. Universities must be reformed. Government funding must be cut and there should be far less capital available for student loans. A large percentage of attendees have no business there. Fire Marxist professors. At the elementary and secondary levels, fundamentals need to be stressed as before and leftist indoctrination must be irradiated. Teacher unions should be abolished, and those instructors who don’t just teach the fundamentals and seek to brainwash children to their radical agenda should be shown the door. It’s time for rational adults to step up.
